Sitting in the study, the morning day sun shining through the windows, I noticed that the panes were cloudy.
Actually, they were filthy and I was quite appalled.
As the morning sun continued its ascent, the windows no longer showed their horrible condition.
After dinner, I decided to go clean them to put my mind at ease.
Standing back by the road to observe my work, I was quite impressed at how cleaned they looked.
Well, the sun is rising again today, and you guessed it, the windows are much better but still a little cloudy so I will be back at it again.
What in the world does this have to do with Jesus or His Word?
The vantage point that started this whole cleaning frenzy is the study where I study God's Word, pray, seek His Face, listen for His Voice and write these words to you.
Spiritual maturity requires daily repentance.
To become true disciples of Christ requires teachability and accountability to Jesus that is beyond toddler-like tendencies.
My grandson is not quite two years old.
He struggles with obedience.
He wants to do what he wants to do when he wants to do it.
However, he is learning to be obedient.
He also has learned that when mommy and daddy are not happy with him, to return to them and give them love.
We are Children of the Living God.
There are no orphans among His Kingdom.
We must become obedient children who live in the Love of the Father rather than rebelling against Him.
If you have asked Jesus to become your Saviour and Lord, your purpose is to live as a reflection of His Love.
Here's a little secret ... God already knows the contents and composition of our heart.
Every moment recorded before time began. (Psalm 139)
He waits for us to come to Him.
James 1:23-25 (TLB)
For if a person just listens and doesn't obey, he is like a man looking at his face in a mirror; as soon as he walks away, he can't see himself anymore or remember what he looks like.
A word of warning to those who are bristling at this conversation.
Religiosity can rob us of the power of repentance.
If you do what the Word of God tells you to do, you will reap the correlated blessing.
In other words, you reap what you sow and harvest what you plant.
A prospering life doesn't always point to a prospering soul.
You must sow God's Word in your heart, tend to it carefully, water it with His Spirit and continue to care for it in order to make certain that it is right with the Lord.
We all sin. We all must repent.
How are the windows to your heart today?
Can you see through them to your innermost parts?
How is the reflection of His Love in your life?
God knows exactly where you are.
He knows your struggles. He desires to help you.
Talk to Him. Repent.
Ask His Spirit to renew you from the inside out.
Spend time with Your Father today. He wants to spend time with you!
Create in me a new, clean heart, O God, filled with clean thoughts and right desires.
Don't toss me aside, banished forever from your presence.
Don't take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me again the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.
Then I will teach your ways to other sinners, and they-guilty like me-will repent and return to you.
