'Proclaiming the WORD into the World'

1 Chronicles 28:20 meaning...

************************

This verse is a heartfelt and powerful message from King David to his son Solomon.
It carries deep meaning and significance, providing not only fatherly advice but also spiritual guidance for all who seek to follow God's calling.

"Be strong and courageous..."

These words resonate with timeless encouragement.
David is urging his son, Solomon, to draw strength and courage from the Lord.
It's a reminder that, in any task or calling, we should not rely solely on our own abilities but trust in the strength that God provides.

"...and do it. Don't be afraid, nor be dismayed..."

Here, David acknowledges the natural human emotions of fear and dismay that can arise when facing significant challenges or responsibilities.
However, he encourages Solomon not to let these emotions paralyze him.
Instead, he emphasizes the importance of pressing forward despite any apprehension.

"...for Yahweh God, even my God, is with you."

David reminds Solomon of the abiding presence of God.
This is a powerful assurance that when we embark on tasks or missions that align with God's will, He is with us every step of the way.
It reinforces the idea that we are not alone in our endeavours.

"He will not fail you nor forsake you..."

David's words echo the promise found in various passages throughout the Bible, including Deuteronomy 31:6

"Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid or scared of them, for Yahweh your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you."

This promise underscores God's faithfulness and commitment to His people.

"until all the work for the service of Yahweh's house is finished."

The context of this verse is David's desire to see the construction of the temple for the worship of Yahweh.
The message extends to any God-given task or mission. It implies that God's presence and faithfulness endure until His work is accomplished through us.

The significance of 1 Chronicles 28:20 lies in its universal applicability to the challenges and callings we face in life:

Trust in God's Strength:
It reminds us to rely on God's strength rather than our own when undertaking important tasks or decisions.

Conquering Fear:
David's words encourage us to face our fears with courage, knowing that God is with us.

God's Abiding Presence:
We find comfort in the assurance that God is ever-present, guiding and supporting us in our journeys.

Divine Faithfulness:
Just as God was faithful to Solomon in building the temple, He remains faithful to us in fulfilling His purposes through our lives.

As we reflect on this verse, let us internalize the message of courage, trust, and divine companionship it conveys.
Whether we are embarking on a significant life change, facing personal challenges, or striving to fulfill God's calling, may we draw strength from the timeless wisdom of King David's words to his son Solomon, knowing that God is with us until His work is finished through us.

1 Chronicles 28:20. David said to Solomon his son, "Be strong and courageous, and do it.
Don't be afraid, nor be dismayed; for Yahweh God, even my God, is with you.
He will not fail you, nor forsake you, until all the work for the service of Yahweh's house is finished."
